NAUDERO: Head masters of two major schools of Naudero and Kehar village have complained that they were facing acute shortage of teachers, mostly science subjects and despite informing to higher education authorities no remedy has so far been provided to them forcing students to learn at their own at private coaching centres.
Head Master of Government English Medium Model High School, Naudero, Manzoor Ali Mangi said that he wrote a letter to Director School Education (Elementary, Secondary and Higher Secondary), Larkana Region, informing her that there was neither compulsory science subject teacher nor was any teacher for Physics, Chemistry or Biology subjects in his school since last four years when school started functioning due to which studies of class 9th and 10th students was suffering badly but no response has so far been received thus students have willfully been deprived of these major subjects’ studies.
Mangi said over 500 students have been enrolled in his school.
Another Head Master of Government High School, Kehar village, Shamsuddin Tagar said that there were no teachers for Mathematics, science and Information Technology in his school as well hence students were unable to get scientific knowledge in this world of scientific technology. He said that three posts of Junior School Teachers (JSTs) were also vacant since long which have not been filled as yet. He said over 250 students were registered in school who belong to many adjacent and surrounding villages. He said that Computer Laboratory has been established in school but it was awaiting latest computers and IT teacher for which he said at least 20 new computers should be supplied along with the teacher so that students could lean operation of computer and related information technology techniques.
This all shows that education department has still to go a long way to overcome shortage of essential teachers, required facilities in schools of the province to improve quality and standard of education in Sindh.
